The client really likes this body of work.  "Reaching Deeply" is an example of the color palette. This particular size did not work with their interior.  So color palette has been determined..... stay tuned - soon - right here on my blog for a peek at the beginnings of the painting!

A new commission

A new commission is an exciting thing.  It's a new painting for someone who has admired your work and has a specific space in their home where they want to hang your artwork!

The decision-making takes a bit of time but once the details are worked out it is time to start.....
Take a look--this page will answer specific questions about commissions, if interested contact me [email protected]

Now to begin: Step one: size is determined, panel is crafted and the wood/substrate must be primed.

Watch the blog over the next month to see the progress!

tools of the trade

As I prepare for this past weekend's workshop I always reflect on the tools I use and why. A lot of this reflection is to prepare me for the demonstration that is to come. How I can use the tools to help encourage the participants to experiment.

One of the tools I use are pigment sticks. R&F is a brand I like a lot.

There is something about unwrapping the paper and paintings with these buttery sticks of pigment.
So many times there is a sense of freedom as I spread large areas of my paintings with the wonderful color.  Many times I use a brayer to spread the paint or just leave it thick and chunky.  This allows the history and mystery of the paintings to develop
